Cascading LOV

Currently Being Moderated
Hi friends,

How to implement cascading lov feature in the Tabular Form in APEX 4.1.

I have referred one of the Denes kubicek example of implementing the cascading lov feature in Tabular Form, which is looking tough and too complex to implement it.

Is there anyway of implementing it in the easier manner in APEX 4.1.

    Dear Jari,

    It is a great blog on the Cascading LOV in Tabular Form, as you explained each steps in the clear manner. As it is very helpful for all those APEX comers. Really thanks for your time in blogging about it.

    I tried to reproduce the same in my application, but it didnt worked as expected as im missing something in my page.

    I like you to see my page, so that you can trace out the mistake that i made exactly.

    Password : 4i@duppy

    Under the Application: 9419 and in page 3: update.

    I reproduce the same example. I need your help in accomplishing it.

    Hi,

    You use wrong selectors in dynamic actions.
    What I see child LOV name is f06 and parent is f05.

    Hi Mini,

    I did update bit blog post.
    Child low column attributes you can set Display Extra Values to Yes. This helps show value in select list when page loads.
    And add to page HTML header style to see loading icon when child lov is refreshed
    <style type="text/css">
    .ui-autocomplete-loading{
     background: url("#IMAGE_PREFIX#libraries/jquery-ui/1.8/themes/base/images/ui-anim_basic_16x16.gif") no-repeat scroll right center transparent;
    }
    </style>

    Hi jari,

    It will be nice, if both the parent and child is of pop-up type. And also one more thing i noted is jari, it is working only for the available rows in the tabular form and it is not working if i add a new row by pressing the ADDROW button.

    Is this one also need to be corrected jari.

    Hi,

    OK,
    Now solution seems work if parent is popup, but child must be select list.

    Add row problem try this:
    Add static ID to your form region e.g. MY_FORM.
    Then change your add button URL target
    javascript:addRow();$('#MY_FORM').trigger('apexafterrefresh');

    Jari

    Hi jari,

    If i kept parent Lov as a popup, but it is not working as it is keep on loading.

    And also ADD ROW functionality too is not working, as it is adding only one row in the page.

    what could be the problem.

    you can see in my example page

    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex

    Workspace: mini_ws
    UserName : hariprasad.r@4iapps.com
    Password : 4i@duppy

    Under the Application: 9419 and in page 3: update.

    Hi,

    You have change form so that popup was child lov. I did fix that.
    You have some other dynamic actions in form and those give JavaScript errors. Probably that prevent adding more than one row.

    Hi jari,

    yes now the pop-up lov is working, but the ADD ROW functionality is not working in my page eventhough i deleted that existing DA.

    It is adding only one row by pressing ADD ROW button in the page.

    Whether it is possible to have both the parent and the child as a popup lov.

    Hi,
    It is adding only one row by pressing ADD ROW button in the page.
    I must say that it is limitation of this solution.
    Whether it is possible to have both the parent and the child as a popup lov.
    As I did say before, Not with this solution.

    Regards,
    Jari
