    ERROR: ud detected syntax error in fielded buffer #1

    ca200197
      I am trying to access the TMIB in Tuxedo 10.3 on Linux. I have these env settings:

      TUXCONFIG=/home/pt851/psft/pt/8.51/appserv/HCM91A/PSTUXCFG
      TUXDIR=/oracle/product/bea/tuxedo10gR3
      FIELDTBLS32=tpadm,sysfl32,evt_mib
      FLDTBLDIR32=/oracle/product/bea/tuxedo10gR3/udataobj

      and this input file:

      SRVCNM     .TMIB
      TA_OPERATION     GET
      TA_CLASS     T_SERVER
      TA_SRVGRP     APPSRV

      the field separators are tabs.

      a "ud32 -C tpsysadm < get_server.dat" gets these errors:

      CMDTUX_CAT:988: ERROR: ud detected syntax error in fielded buffer #1
      LIBFML_CAT:8: ERROR: Unknown field name

      CMDTUX_CAT:989: ERROR: No service in FBFR
      TA_CLASS     T_SERVER
      TA_OPERATION     GET
      TA_SRVGRP     APPSRV

      What could be the reason that ud32 does not seem to recognize the SRVCNM .TMIB request?

          Are you sure there is a TAB character between SRVCNM and .TMIB (not SPACE characters)?

              Hi,

              You need to change your environment variables. The setting for FIELDTBLS32 is wrong. You currently have:

              FIELDTBLS32=tpadm,sysfl32,evt_mib

              but what you need is:

              FIELDTBLS32=tpadm,Usysfl32,evt_mib

              although you don't really need the event MIB field tables unless you are planning on accessing the event MIB.

              Regards,

                I don't know how that typo got in my post. The env setting IS correct:

                $ ud32 -C tpsysadm < get_server.dat
                CMDTUX_CAT:988: ERROR: ud detected syntax error in fielded buffer #1

                TA_OPERATION     GET
                TA_SRVGRP     APPSRV

                $ set | grep 32
                FIELDTBLS32=tpadm,Usysfl32,evt_mib
                FLDTBLDIR32=/oracle/product/bea/tuxedo10gR3/udataobj

                $ set | grep TUX
                TUXCONFIG=/home/pt851/psft/pt/8.51/appserv/HCM91A/PSTUXCFG
                TUXDIR=/oracle/product/bea/tuxedo10gR3

                $ od -c get_server.dat

                  Hi,

                  Well I'm a little confused about why this isn't working as your script file is fine. Are you certain the other environment variables are set correctly, i.e., are these files on your system:

                  /oracle/product/bea/tuxedo10gR3/bin/ud32
                  /oracle/product/bea/tuxedo10gR3/udataobj/tpadm
                  /oracle/product/bea/tuxedo10gR3/udataobj/Usysfl32

                  Regards,

                    Yes, I checked all of that several times already

                    I haven't had need or occasion to use it for several years but I used it quite a bit on Windows and Tuxedo 6.5 ( that tells you how long it's been ).

                      Hi,

                      Well I'm out of ideas. I'm guessing at this point you'll need to open a support case and see Oracle Customer Support can help you find the root of the problem.
