On the metric column you don't want to see a total for, go to the "criteria" mode and click on the fx button. Change the aggregation rule to "None."
Thanks David, sorry I didn't put that in my original post, but I did that and it basically set every value to NULL. So all the detail values became NULL as well as the subtotals/totals. I thought I had used that before to not show a Total for a metric and it worked so not sure why for this metric by setting the Aggregate to None it did that. This metric is just a straight AVG of a fact column (Set in the RPD).
Okay, try one more thing: Put that metric in the Rows section instead of the Measures section.1 person found this helpful
Yeah as I mentioned in the OP this was a Table view, I agree it would work in a Pivot view with this column in the rows.
The issue is that this is a pretty large dataset being returned and I don't want to put it into a Pivot View if I don't have too as for one TMP files get generated with the Pivot View and the other is the users keep hitting the Exceeded Configuration error. Unfortunately this seems to be the only way to get this requirement to work which I hate doing as it is not the most efficent way for this request to be processed.
Thanks for the input David, I will mark as Helpful.
Can you try this:
1) Instead of changing anything in the criteria section, go to the results tab, then edit the table view.
2) In the Columns and Measures section, choose if you want the totals to display after or before.
3) Click on the mouse icon on the metrics, where you want to display the totals for, and choose aggregation rule as sum, and none for the metrics that you dont want to display the totals for.
