Hi All,

RMAN> delete archivelog all;
still get the above error when running:

RMAN> backup database plus archivelog;

Starting backup at 07-FEB-12
current log archived
using channel ORA_DISK_1
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================

    Could it be, that someone ore something deletes archivelog between these two steps?

    No, it is not a bug. You ran 'delete archivelog all', you are trying to backup the database including the archivelogs Oracle still knows of, which were already deleted by you.

    If you would have run

    delete archivelog all;

    crosscheck archivelog all;

    delete expired archivelog all;

    backup database plus archivelog

    Oracle would not have complained.
    Recoverability though would still have been compromised.

    backup database plus archivelog skip inaccessible should do.

    Dunno.

    Have you tried

    RMAN> change archivelog all crosscheck;

    Which is suggested [url http://www.shutdownabort.com/errors/RMAN-06059.php]here (the first Google result returned for rman-06059)?

    Disagree, if a person deletes archivelog by RMAN, then RMAN renews info about deleted archivelogs in controlfile or catalog db.

    In response to Nikolay and Sybrand:

    1). I had tried other steps prior to this post, sorry should have mentioned:

    I had run CROSSCHECK even before running the backup command, and that error still came up.
    CROSSCHECK is supposed to check archivelogs and record/validate against control file...but for some reason, its looking for logs that arent there...

    Ran the skip inaccessible option and see this output:

    Now question is how to sync all of these logs...

    After

    crosscheck archivelog all;

    the appropriate delete command is

    delete EXPIRED archivelog all;

    That removes non-existing archivelogs on disk from the controlfile/recovery catalog. Without 'expired' all archivelogs are deleted, including those still valid.

    Oradba,

    Ran those 2 commands...same result:

    mf2_285_7m1t3mdr_.arc RECID=525 STAMP=774586899
    Deleted 7 EXPIRED objects

    You deleted them, didn't you?
    So, if you don't have another backup, they are gone.

    Sorry

    Hi,
    RMAN> delete archivelog all;
    still get the above error when running:
    What error message you are having while executing the above command?

    When archive log files deleted from OS knowingly/unknowingly Still v$archived_log shows you the archive log location,
    So find out which archives are missing.

    Run RMAN> delete expired archivelog all;

    When you do not have archives (or) you do not have a copy of archives, Strongly Recommended to take FULL Backup

    If the archive is deleted from OS level and if its an unbacked archive, then RMAN would not proceed with the backup.
    You need to uncatalog the particular missing archive. But it is recommended to take full backup.
    RMAN>change archivelog sequence <sequence#> uncatalog;
