I am working on a particular scenario in which I have potential cost changes I would like to first enter into CM as a quoted commitment, then assign to a previously created Change Management line item AFTER I have created the quoted commitment.
From there, my intent is to have the ability to forward the quoted commitment to a quoted/negotiated budget via Change Management, and eventually to a finalized commitment.
Not sure if this may violate some sort of fundamental rule of change management; regardless, I would like to have the ability to do as I have indicated above at times, rather than having to create the Change Management Item first then create the quoted commitments afterwards.
I would appreciate any input you master Jedi's may have. Thank you in advance for your help.
CM allows issues to be added to a Change Management line item after that line item is created. Can this similarly be done with Trends? In otherwords, AFTER a Change Management item has been created, can I link a Trend to that Change Management item?
The best option I can think of is to link both your Trend and the Chg Mgt item to the same Issue. That can provide you the common link between the two and allow you to produce reports listing the records together. You can also take a look at using the "Source Document" field on the Details tab in Chg Mgt. However, that only allows you to select from Requests, Proposals, or Change type documents and not Trends.
