Dear all,

11.5.9 on solaris 10

Currently we have set display variable to a sun machine which has a display hardware. now, this display server needs to be removed. we dont have any sun machine which has a display hardware
attached to it..

Is it neccessary to have a machine which has a display hardware ?. is there any workaround ?
since the current OS is sun, is it necessary to have the display hardware also running in SUN?

Please advise

Kai

Yes - a display variable needs to be set - this is a requirement.

If you do not have physical display hardware, you can use an emulator such as Xvfb or VNC

    Kai,
Is it neccessary to have a machine which has a display hardware ?.
It is mandatory, otherwise you will receive REP-3000 error.
    is there any workaround ?
    Please see these docs.

How to configure Solaris 9 Xvfb [ID 1009117.1]
How to launch X client applications on remote Xvfb(1) X server. [ID 1003501.1]
since the current OS is sun, is it necessary to have the display hardware also running in SUN?
No, you can set the DISPLAY to any other server.

    Thanks,
    Hussein
