    Grid Control Installations

    DBA_1976
      Hi,
I am planning to install new Grid control Enterprise Manager for our company. I want to know the pros and cons of installing EMGC in Linux and Windows servers. Which one is stable/reliable/fast/high performing etc?

I am not able to find any documentation regarding this. Have anybody had a bad experience with the EMGC? What types of problems you had? This is my first EM installation, so I want to know all, before starting the work.

Also Is the web logic server free? Is there any cost associated with that. The EMGC is free, but for that we need to have the Repository database and the Weblogic server. We have license for the databases, but I am not sure about the WLS.

      Thanks in advance,

You can find here step by step installation.

          http://taliphakanozturken.wordpress.com/2011/01/10/oracle-enterprise-manager-grid-control-11g-r1-installation/

During installation process you can get an error while "OMS Configuration" processing.

SEVERE: Exception: java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind

If you get this error, find the process listening on port and kill it

          # lsof -w -n -i tcp:7401
          # kill Process_PID

You must have grid control license

I couldn't see any other problem with it.

            Hi,

You can install the 12C Cloud Control which is very latest.
The Linux software contains the Bundle Patch included which have many a no of fixes included. That provided more stability to the product.

You can download the software using the following link:
