I have the ADF fusion web application using ADF bc4j and and faces. In my entity object i have couple of columns for track changes and mark them as "modified by" and "created by" also for dates under the attribute "detail" tab. unfortunately the history columns values are null. Do i need to change any further configuration to enable that history track changes.
Let's see the XML from your EO.
Does this reproduce if you create a table based on the HR schema?
When are you seeing the values as null (as I recall, they are set on commit time, so if you haven't committed, you will see them as null.
Are you using ADF security?
Thanks for the response, Actually we are using the ADF security and the user is authenticated. In our case even the dates also null (created and updated dates).
Apart from that, i have seen seen the following documentation, in that they mentioned to checked the "History column checked box". However i cannot be able to see that in the properties. I can only see the drop down and be able to select the column type.
Am i missing any configuration?
Select this checkbox to log changes to the database. You can only log changes if: You have implemented authorization (login) using JAAS/JAZN. The selected attribute is persistent. Changes will be logged in the corresponding database column. You have not selected Primary Key, Mandatory, or Discriminator. The attribute type is Char, Character, String, Date, Timestamp, or Number.
Once you have selected this checkbox, choose the history column type: created on
Select this option to use the column to log the date on which the row was first created. The attribute type must be Date or Timestamp. modified on
Select this option to use the column to log the date on which the row was last modified. The attribute type must be Date or Timestamp. created by
Select this option to use the column to log the user who created the row. The attribute type must be Char, Character, or String. modified by
Select this option to use the column to log the user who last modified the row. The attribute type must be Char, Character, or String. version number
Select this option to use this column to log the number of times the row has been changed. The attribute type must be Number
I'd like to lodge a documentation bug. However you've not given me enough information. If I invoke the help on the attribute editor page of the Entity Object editor, it doesn't mention the history checkbox. Can you give me instructions how to locate the erroneous error page please?
Open the jdev help page and search the following "edit attribute dialog - entity attribute". Click on the first link
"Edit Attribute Dialog - Entity Attribute Page or Create Entity Object Wizard - Attribute Settings Page"
Under the History Column you can point the mentioned descriptions.
