disabling HTTP session creation

I'm fairly certain this has been asked before elsewhere, but I didn't find a definite answer.
I know I can disable session creation on JSP pages using the page directive as in:
<%@ page session="false" %>

However, this approach requires manual changes per file (even though it can be automated).
I wanted to know whether there is a setting per the application level (servlet context) - I wasn't able to find anything.
If this is JSP/Servlet container specific configuration, anybody knows by any chance how to accomplish this in Jetty?

The manual does. If not then Google does, if you ask it the right question. "Java jetty disable session" gave some really promising results I can tell you...

Why do you care that a session is created by the way? Don't use it if you don't need it. Are you perhaps trying to prevent the sessionId cookie from being created?
