I understand the supported way is to add-device and reboot. But in many cases it beats the purpose of zones , specially when you do databases, rac, etc within zone.
not sure why the zones developers did not think about adding the capability to add raw luns ( like when using ASM) without reboot..
previously in solaris10 zones, you could do it using mknod (though not officially supported) but with solaris 11 zones, its not possible because "allow-partition" and "allow-raw-io" are default set to false. Hence mknod from global zone will not get the LUN added to local zone to be added to Oracle database ASM dynamically...
