to check that an Administrator is a valid Unix user on the host, VDI runs "/usr/bin/id username" and verifies that the exit code is success.
OK id would just use what is configured in /etc/nsswitch.conf so that should have not problem with LDAP/AD.
But how is the authentication performed ? Using pam or by reading /etc/shadow ?
Administrators authentication by VDI is performed through Common Agent Container (cacao) utilities, which involve the underlying PAM authentication.
Bottom line: if "su - <username>" succeeds on the system, then VDI will be able to authenticate the user.
