I have some sales order to be cancelled in which the header and line status are in *"Entered"*. I am not able to cancel these sales order.
Also note that these orders are for maintenance service.Once i book these orders the lines will change to closed status.
So it is not possible to book and cancel the lines.
Kindly me to resolve this.

If i do Action-->cancel on header, it just makes the qty to zero. But the header and line status still showing as entered. It will not cancel the order.
The problem for me is that these lines are coming in my monthly reports.
How to cancel the sales order - header and line status are in Entered Stage
Coming to your Action-->cancel...as far as i know ...the header status will change to canceled..
unless until you have some processing constraints in place...which is stopping you...
Actually the problem is with the type of sales order.
As i told you this is not a normal supply sales order.
this is a maintenance service order.Once we try to cancel through the header in entered stage also the line will be in entered stage with zero qty which will raise a zero value invoice.
Also want to know whether the header and lines can be cancelled through any oracle scripts?.
To my understanding, when the order is in Entered Status, that means its not picked up by Workflow at all. In this case, you can't do any cancellation but can delete the sales order.
If you are sure that you don't want to see this in any report and really don't want this order at all, then you can delete the order.

What you mean by processing constraints. Can you explain more ?.
"unless until you have some processing constraints in place...which is stopping you... "
The cancellation is still not possible for the orders, may be due to constraints assigned in settings.
But when i tried to delete the sales order from header, it gives a message "You are not allowed to delete order header because gapless orders should be cancelled".
This is also due to processing constraints?.
This makes sense...you cannot delete gapless orders because gapless orders are contiguous...that's the reason why many clients opt for automatic numbering
I also think that is also part of constraints..which can't be disabled i guess

Thanks for all your comments.
but still i am not convinced with the answers as you know if there is some processing constraints in place, the user will not be able to cancel the booked status orders.
I am able to cancel the orders with booked status, but i think Orders with Entered status can be changed by any users.
But as you know the "Booked" orders can be changed only by the user who have "Sales Order Booking and Shipping".
Is there any more tips you can guide me to cancel the orders in entered status, other than Deletion.
Thanks for the reply. Now its clear what to do while cancelling order.
I need one more solution for cancelling an order.
Is it possible to cancel a sales order in header status without cancelling the pending lines ?.
I need this because this sales order are related to agreements, if i cancel the pending lines this will affect the value of sales order.
Once again thanks for all your supports.
