You can use the Tree View only if the operations you are recording are very simple. If you want to make more complicated operations with your tests you most probably will use the code view. For the it is very cool that you can customize the recording with Java and not with some script like language.
A number of scripting functions are available via TreeView like adding a "if" statement. Then of course, you would have to go to Java code view to change the if condition.
What you need here is some scripting skills, not Java in term of object oriented programming language.
This is all basic and you should manage by using Google (or Bing :) ) or even this forum what you need to do.
Thanks for the response.
Being novice to the OATS tool and the scripting language is making me a little lost.
Can you please guide me on the steps in getting familiar with the automation approach for Siebel 8.1?
Best is to start recording & replaying basic scripts and then trying to increase script complexity.
OpenScript User pdf guide is also a good source.
You can also take a look at the Siebel Test Start Kit (you can dl from otn.oracle.com) and start from here to see how it has been implemented.
PS: are you from Oracle?
Thanks! Shall do the same...
Well, I tried locating Siebel Test Start Kit from from otn.oracle.com but could not find it.
I had actually taken a brief training through Webex, on OATS from an Oracle Consultant but it was a brief training. Does Oracle render a detailed training on the tool?
No, I'm not from Oracle
The Siebel kit is available at
There's an Oracle University OATS trainings and Oracle Learning Library (go here http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=44785:1 and search for application testing suite) available,
Thanks JB. The link U shared has lot of informative stuff! :)
