    jari's editable IR..

      Hi Jari...

      http://dbswh.webhop.net/dbswh/f?p=BLOG:READ:0::::ARTICLE:137800346674748

      Sorry to bother you again.
      I implemented your "editable interactive report" solution in one of my IR.
      everythinh works fine, but i would like to do one change.

      In your solution you have the ""edit icon"" is attached to that particular column.
      I need the edit icon in a separate column, left of DESC_TEST column.
      I tried many things but couldn't able to fix it.If you have a min, please help me with it.

      Please check the following sample app

      http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=57095:1

      Application No: 57095
      Application Name: editable_ir
      workspace:kumar2003
      username:test_user
      password:jari

              Hi binepal..

              Thanks for taking time to look into my issue.

              But your solution is not what i am loooking for.

              I need that ""small edit icon or some kind edit icon"" as a separate colum ""left of DESC_TEST colum"".

              when someone click it, it need to hide and show the text box in DESC_TEST column.

              Basically it needs to function in the same way that it is doing now.. ""but the only change is the edit icon need to be
              in a separate column , but not tied to the same column""

              If you check jari's code, i think these are the following place that need the change..

              var lCell=$(pThis).parent()  --> determines which cell he is shoing the text box
              var lRow=$(pThis).parents("tr:eq(0)").children("td")  --> which row it is
              var lOld=lCell.children().detach(); --> not sure what it does

                Hi,

                I just wonder what could be reason why edit icon/link need to be on another column?
                Why have extra "dummy" column in report?

                jQuery documentation is good to check if you do not know what some function does
                http://api.jquery.com/detach/

                Regards,
                Jari

                  Hi jari..

                  Thanks for the reply.
                  As per my mgr decision, i was trying to move that edit icon to a separate column.

                  If you have a min,Can you help me with that??

                  Thanks

                    Hi,

                    I do not see any use case to do it. So I do not have time. Sorry

                    Regards,
                    Jari

                      Not a problem jari. Thanks for all the replies..

                      Jari..Our actual goal is , if we have that edit icon in a ""separate column"" we can hide or disable it (as per user requirement).
                      Not all the users should have access to that ""edit access"".

                      we need to ""disable""(with greyed out icon) , when the user don't have access to it.

                      I tried the following solution that you helped me..
                      IR column question..
                      but now..i cannot hide the icon, instead i need to disable (grey out).And there are some other issues i have seen for the functionality.

                      i tried the other solution too..
                      Jquery for IR question..
                      So my mgr thought the only way to handle it better have it a ""separate column""..

                        Hi,

                        Ok, it is always nice when managers come to help and give good advice to solve problem=)

                        I think you do not need visible extra column.
                        I guess you need add e.g. column link attributes as one column in query and hide it from report

                        Regards,
                        Jari

                              Jari..

                              It seems you are applying "style"" dynamically in your example.
                              Please let me know what changes you did to your sample.

                              Thanks

                                Hi,

                                Yes, I apply styles dynamically and control link onclick attribute using authorization scheme.
                                Same authorization scheme is set to On Demand process so users can not update data by tampering URL.

                                I might write blog post about solution later.

                                Regards,
                                Jari

                                    Hi Jari..

                                    In the mean time,I tried some code to disable/enable the edit icon.

                                    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=57095

                                    it is working partially,but, somehow if i click the ""edit icon"", it is removing all the other data in that column.
                                    $('table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td:nth-child(4)').each(function() {
                                    var dept_no = $(this).text();
                                    if (dept_no == '10')
                                      {
                                       var vo_col2 = $(this).parent('tr').children('td:nth-child(2)');
                                       $('.edit-img', vo_col2).each(function() {
                                           $(this).removeAttr('onclick');
                                           $(this).removeAttr('href');
                                           $(this).css("opacity","0.4");
                                           $(this).css("filter","alpha(opacity=40)");
                                       });
                                      }
                                    else
                                      {

                                    });
