OBI 11g (11.1.1.6.0) coreapplication doesn't start

Hi,

I'm new with the weblogic/Fusion architecture and therefore somewhat clueless.
- fresh install of OBI 11.1.1.6.0 (simple installation) on windows 7
- during installation the 5 coreapplication processes won't start
- opmnctl startall on command line fails as well
- later I explored the Fusion Middleware Control and found the log entries below
- hints from this forum: no RPD upgrade involved; loopback adapter available

any help appreciated
Thomas

    Hi,

Did u configured static ip address by looback adaptor .

    FYI:

    Steps:

    1. Looback adaptor install
    2. Jdk/jrockit 1.6.0_29 and above version ( installation folder should not keep any space b/w folder name)
    3. Set system environment path java and make cmd prompt javac running
4.) 20GB FOR installation space required and temp /tmp keep it 2 GB( the temp folder also should not keep any space)
5.) RCU AND OBIEE11.1.1.6 download and run as administrator

    Thanks

    Deva
    6) go with simple install ( windows 7 all editions are working fine )

    Hi Deva,

    - loopback adapter is installed (already needed for EM)
    - "Jdk/jrockit 1.6.0_29 and above version ( installation folder should not keep any space b/w folder name)"
What does it mean? Is there any need for action after 11.1.1.6 install?
    - "Set system environment path java and make cmd prompt javac running"
What exactly to do? Which value which name for the system variable in windows?
-- there is enough space on my laptop

    regards

    Hi,

Once again can the status of all OBIEE components using opmnctl command as below
    Drive:\MiddlewareHome\instances\instance1\bin>opmnctl status

if u have original back or u can download sample RPD and catalog then tyr to re-deploy the sampleAppLite RPD and WebCatalog that came with the default installation of OBI 11g.

Redeploy those and restart the OPMN components

    Ref:
    OBIEE_11g_Installation: opmnctl start coreapplication_obips1 failed

    Thanks

    Hi,

this is a fresh install (Win 7), the default SampleAppLite is active and can be opened offline.
But all this doesn't bring me closer to an explanation why the coreapplication processes don't start. The thread you are referencing to confuses me. I see that I'm not the first one to encounter this problem. In the Fusion Control it's clear that the 5 processes failed at the start (I gave the log entry of one of them). What can I do and where can I look to find out the reason of this failure?

It seems to be a security issue:
Message MBean-Attributzugriff verweigert. (attribute access denied)
    Supplemental Detail MBean: oracle.biee.admin:type=BIDomain.BIInstanceStatusMetric,biInstance=coreapplication,group=Service
    Getter für Attribut ReadOnly
Details: Zugriff verweigert. Erforderliche Rollen: Admin, Operator, Monitor, ausführendes Subject: principals=[] java.lang.SecurityException: Zugriff verweigert. Erforderliche Rollen: Admin, Operator, Monitor, ausführendes Subject: principals=[]
How can I set roles in this context? Is this the executing Windows user who should get granted some Windows privileges? I'm complete naked in this J2EE area.
    Please help!

    thanks in advance
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

I have seen this kind of error coming up in some other cases too(Not really sure if this is really the cause though!!). Could you let us know, if there are any other error messages in the NQServer.log file (\Middleware\instances\instance1\diagnostics\OracleBIServer folder)?

    Thank you,
    Dhar

    Hi,

the nqserver logs don't contain any additional info, the quoted message is taken from the Fusion Control interface (don't know where to find the corresponding log in the file system).
I would prefer to concentrate on the evident security issue. It seems that the executing user lacks some privileges. But it's a Windows administrator user, so I could assign him to some privileged groups. But probably is there a particular security system for these MBeans in the JMX framework; I found a link discussing MBean security policies ( [http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v6r1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.websphere.base.doc%2Finfo%2Faes%2Fae%2Ftjmx_admin_expmbsec.html] ). But this is to deep Java for me !?
Where are the Java experts around who can help?

    best regards

    Hi,

try adding your machine's IP address to the hosts file:

    192.168.161.130     hus-xp-test
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    10.10.10.10 localhost loopback

    This worked with me

    Hi Hussam,

that was it! I added the reference to 127.0.0.1 and loopback to the etc\hosts and the coreapplication processes started perfectly.

    many thanks
