Check in /etc/default/passwd file whether DICTIONLIST and DICTIONDBDIR are enabled. If any database is created with mdict and username are listed in that file disable using username as password.
i didn't get your answer properly..please elaborate more clearly
I meant, open /etc/default/passwd file and check in the last few line for the parameters whether it is enabled.
this is the entry in my passwd file
what do i need to do with that?
I have tried to enable the dictionary words also but again same error:
password cannot be circular shift of login id
No, don't enable it. Wanted see only whether the parameter is enabled.
Are you using NIS?
no the parameters are disabled....but still getting the same error

in /etc/default/passwd u can set the NAMECHECK parameter.
If this is set to yes (as per default) username and password cant be identical.
So try to set NAMECHECK=NO in /etc/default/passwd and let me know if this works.
in /etc/default/passwd just uncomment this 2 files NAMECHECK & MINALPHA=0
as default set to yes username and password cant be identical.
So try to set thsi 2 file thats it, it will work
