Have you tried removing /usr/lib64/R/library/00LOCK-DBI first and then repeating R CMD INSTALL for the DBI package?
Actually there was no such file there.
Next is the sequence of actions I just tried.
[rdf@semperf3 supporting]# ls -l /usr/lib64/R/library/*LOCK*
[rdf@semperf3 supporting]# /usr/bin/R CMD INSTALL DBI_0.2-5_R_x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz
* installing to library â/usr/lib64/R/libraryâ
ERROR: failed to lock directory â/usr/lib64/R/libraryâ for modifying
Try removing â/usr/lib64/R/library/00LOCK-DBIâ
If the lock file does not exist, it's possible this is a problem with permissions. Have you tried installing as sudo?
Let us know if this fixes the problem.
Actually I am root.
[rdf@semperf3 supporting]# id
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root),1(bin),2(daemon),3(sys),4(adm),6(disk),10(wheel)
Thanks very much Sherry for reaching out to me!
