Why dont you use the option of 'Multi-Select' option in the prompt itself to select 'Multiple departments"
Edit the prompt , change the default control option from "drop down list" to "Multi-select".
Please mark it correct or helpful if it clears you
But how would my sql in DDr has to be changed to accomodate multi select option from Prompt.
I am not using rpd.
please refer to the below link
plz mark helpful if it clears

Let me try to explain the scenario. Suppose we have a Direct data request, which list down all the user details and present data in below format
User Logintime logouttime departmentid
11 10 11 123
22 11 12 234
33 10 11 345
44 9 9.30 123
sql used in DDr is
select User, Logintime, logouttime, departmentid
So with the above sql I can either generate report for one user or for all user.
But I want DDR to have option to generate report for multiple users at a time, like lets genrate report for user 11 and 22.
I know in prompt we have "multi select" option but If I do multi select in prompt what are the changes I have to do in sql?
PS: my actual report is more complex then above example scenario and has to be done in DDR only not in RPD.
