I have taken a database growth report through OEM "Oracle Database Tablespace Monthly Space Usage".
The report shows "Monthly Cumulative Tablespace Allocated Space Usage" in a histogram format.
I want to understand
1. what is exactly "Average Used" and "Average size" means in the histogram? need more explanation.
2. More explanation with example on "Average Allocated", "Minimum Allocated" and "Maximum Allocated".
I'm assuming that min, max and average are self-explanatory. The histogram is showing the database size average and the used average. So how much has been allocated vs how much is used. In this report the term allocated is how much space has been allocated to the database/tablespace (i.e. tablespace is 5gb). Used is how much is currently consumed by data (i.e. 2gb used) and free is the remainder (i.e. 3gb used). The average covers the period of the report, which by default is last 31 days.
