    PIA JRE

    Honza
      Hello,

when trying to start single server PIA, I am getting an error concerning the JRE:
      [cmp90@vm-campus ~]$ . /apps/psoft/cmp90_852/psconfig.sh
      [cmp90@vm-campus ~]$ startPIA.sh

How come the start script cannot find a JRE in the listed PS_HOME? Are there some additional variables? I'm currently going through the different variables inside startPIA.sh to see if something is not getting set by setDomainEnv.

      Thanks for input.

What's your OS ? Peopletools ? Weblogic version ? Your Weblogic install path directory ?

          Nicolas.

            It's OEL5.5 64bit, PT8.52, Weblogic 10.3.3

            PIA install path is /apps/psoft/pia
            PS_HOME is /apps/psoft/cmp90_852

I meant the Weblogic installation folder, not the pia.
And also, are all managed by the same user (PS_HOME/PIA/Weblogic) ?

Just a test, try to start the PIA without invoking psconfig.sh, this is not required anyway.
And also, post the result of the following :

Then I suppose the installation folder is /apps/mdlware/wl_server10.3

Yes, everything is managed by the same user, this time I also used a same server for the application and web server and the user is same for both.

PIA was installed from PS_HOME/setup/, not psadmin - I might give that a try though.

This issue is strange, because it suggests the JRE in PS_HOME is unusable, or maybe with bad permissions.

Assuming you're on supported Linux version (64bit)
                          1. Have you installed "JRockit JDK R28.1 for Java SE 6 with JRockit Mission Control 4.0.1 for Linux x86-64" as required within Weblogic ?
                          2. You should keep your bash_profile as simplest as possible
2.1 TUXDIR variable is appended by slash, you should remove it (it's seen by double-slashes in your env|sort given above)
                          2.2 remove $PS_HOME/bin and $PS_HOME/lib from LD_LIBRARY_PATH
                          2.3 remove /apps/psoft/cmp90_852/jre1.6.0/bin from PATH
                          2.4 remove /apps/psoft/pia/webserv/peoplesoft/bin from PATH
                          2.5 remove $PS_HOME/appserv from PATH

                          Nicolas.

Hmm, JRocket, good point! .. I probably have an older version, worth a shot downloading again from edelivery and trying that out, maybe even some mishap during installation, I'll get back once I try it out.

I followed your tips to alter my profile, doesn't seem to make a difference, so I guess I will at least keep PS_HOME/appserv for psadmin quick access and that webserv path for the startPIA script. These shouldn't make any difference anaways.

This shouldn't but LD_LIBRARY_PATH, maybe. Have you disconnected/connected after bash changes ?
Anyway, have a try with the said JRockit.

I've reinstalled a current version of JRockit (in /apps/mdlware/jrockit) and set JAVA_HOME to that location and added the new JAVA_HOME/bin to my PATH, then did a PIA domain re-create and re-deploy. This should have the effect of the new PIA to be installed using JRockit Java.

Problem still persists, I am truly out of ideas.

Try to run it once you're in $PS_HOME/webserv/peoplesoft/bin

After removing the LD_LIBRARY_PATH entry, I could no longer run psadmin, which failed with a libtrio64.so not found error.

Is there something specific I need to watch out for when having App server and Web server on the same machine? It seems silly to ask, but still.
