created two virtual machines viha01, viha02 using OVM_OL5U7_X86_64_11203RA_PVM template. changes second virtual circuit to xenbr1
added xvdc-xvdg shared disks to both VMs
powered on both VMs, opened vncviewer sessions to complete template interview.
when i subsequently run /u01/app/buildcluster.sh
it fails indicating it can not reach viha02-priv.
at the prompt level, ifconfig eth1 shows
viha01:: HWaddr 00:16:3E:5D:5C:F0 inet addr: 10.172.1.224
viha02:: HWaddr 00:16:3E:5D:5C:F1 inet addr: 10.172.1.226
and as reported by buildcluster.sh, ping -I eth1 viha02-priv returns network unreachable, as does the reverse from viha02.
at the physical node level, i have two NICs configured, one is public, one private, comunicatino across the two networks work as expected.
the VM generated images however do not create the private network configuration so that it works. the public network configuration
works as expected.
i've tried reconfiguring the private netork by hand, as if i was just native h/w, in an attempt to discover the issue:: failure
the whole issue started when the private IP was 'accidently' registered with the generated MSC address in the local DNS to avoid Ip assignment conflicts. rebuilding from scratch with IP/MAC not registered in DNS have proved fruitless.
The templates cannot configure the network if the infrastructure is not setup right at dom0 level.
You should provide vm.cfg and output from ifconfig.. but really, put the templates aside, this is really an OVM/configuration issue. For RAC to function, 2 nics are needed for each node, and pings should work on both of the NICs from all nodes to all nodes.
