    867311
      Hi all,

recently i have installed oracle client 10g in my laptop. Operating system loaded in my machine is windows vista. I am not able to login to the database. Even using tnsping utility i am getting error TNS operation time out. i have checked the tnsnames.ora file and also sqlnet.ora file. Using the same files without doing nothing i am able to connect to the database from another machine , but from my laptop i am not able to connect to the database. Also one thing i found from sqlnet.log file that "Client address unknown" error is giving . I am not a database admin, therefor i am not able to understand it correctly. Will you please help me to solve this problem . Below are detals . If anyone knows the reason and solution please help me .

Try to "telnet 172.26.11.171 1521" from your laptop and see if that times out too.

If yes, you have a network problem.

What do you get for "ping 172.26.11.171" ?

Is there a firewall on the laptop that blocks outgoing connections?

          Yours,

some times this massage may be received because of the name resolution problem, so simply open your tnsnames.ora and listener.ora file and replace the HOST name with the IP address of the system where the oralce database has been installed. Thats it. Try it, good luck

ex: HOST = 192.1680.20 it my server IP address

check my tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files

            # tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
