Hi,
Oracle database machine name is used to generate host names for network interface for all systems.
The default hostname is :dm01
I am about to install new exadata, and I am wondering if the majority of customers usually changing the name of Exadata database machine from dm01 to somthing else , or if they keep it with the default name.
Thanks

Most customers choose to go with a prefix that matches their environment more closely. Naming an Exadata doesn't really follow anybody's naming standard, so it can take some time to find a prefix that satisfies the network team. I like to stay away from using location names, as several of my customers have moved their Exadata systems, and renaming one isn't the easiest thing to do.
