    Maximum items under Shared Folders

Does anyone know if there is a limit on the number of folders that will display under the Shared Folders folder? I have worked with other systems where there was either a built-in limit or you could set a limit on the number of items displayed. I haven't seen anything like this for OBIEE. The folders would be directly under Shared Folders.

Once rolled out we will have thousands of folders that a small group of users would have access to. The typical user will only have access to a few folders.

Go to catalog, where you can see both My folders and Shared Folders.
You can explicitly give permissions of the folders for whom you need to give the access.
So that only users having the access to view the folders.

Please let me know further, if my understanding is wrong.

          Hope this helped

I do not think there is any limitation on the number of folders from the OBIPS side, but there is limitation from the Operating System. On Unix, we need to set the OS to enable more than 4000 sub-directories. On windows too, it is not recommended to store more than 8000 files in one folder.

You may want to refer to http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/bi.1111/e10541/prescatadmin.htm#autoId9 for more.

            Hope this helps.
