SSLHandshakeException @ iPlanet webserver 7.0.9

Hi All,

We have successfully implemented "Mutual Authentication" with other interfaces from Oracle-webserver box using "Cacerts/trustedStore certificates" present in the default JAVA/JDK location ".../jdk1.5.0_22/jre/lib/security". No issues with certificates/trust chain in validation.

But I'm facing "javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Received fatal alert: handshake_failure" exception during restart of the instance after updating the existing application. No changes were made to certificates , only internal application code was modified and re-deployed to reflect the new changes.

As an alternative we keep on restarting the entire instance to check whether certificates are picked up properly or not.

Instane Name : ABC
Under this instance 2 independent applications with 2 diff uri's are deployed. All these applications will make use of same certificates in JDK location. Some times they are working properly but other times we need to restart the entire instance.

Please help me in this case !!!!
