Editing list view output Texts in source code after creation wizard

Hello. I've been experimenting with listViews for a while and for some reason I can not seem to edit any attributes shown with this list after the wizard to create the list is finished.

Here is what I do:
I drag a data-control onto the structure and select listView. Then I choose one(or two) attribute(s) and click finish. it creates my listView and I can compile and deploy just fine. however, if i want to merge two values together in one output text (to have weekday and date together in one line) it doesnt find the data #{row.simpleDate}.

If I created a list with only one attribute (weekday e.g.) and then add another amx:outputText with a value="#{row.simpleDate}" it doesnt find that one either. However if i added the simpleDate attribute in the wizard it finds it just fine. is there a thing i forgot with the bindings and executables?

Here are some screenshots to describe my dilemma:

If i create a listView with one item and then add a little bit of EL(within one outputText): => doesnt work

Same as just above but created via wizard: => works
