    This usually means ORACLE_HOME or ORACLE_SID are not set correctly. Since you appear to be on windows, these can be defined in the registry, in your system environment variables, or explicitly in your command window. So look in the registry for all occurences of those, look in your system environment, and display what your command window thinks they are with the set command, in addition to your alert log that sb asked for, and let us know if there are complaints in the event viewer. Also, what windows services with ora in their name are defined? Are you familiar with the utility [url http://psoug.org/reference/oradim.html]oradim?
