Thanks for your prompt support.
I have a Sun Storage 6140 for testing but it has only one controller and another one is blank and also has high firmware version. And I have another Sun Storage 6140 in production that has low firmware version.
Now Sun Storage 6140 in production has one faulty hard disk, so I want to take one hard disk from Sun Storage 6140 for testing to replace it but it cannot running because hard disk on Storage test has firmware not match with Storage in production.
That why I want to downgrade firmware on Storage test to match with Storage in production.
Please kindly give any idea for this.
Thanks and regards,
Please, specify FW for Controllers from production and test arrays.
When you try downgrade FW for disk via CAM ( for example, you have more old CAM then disk FW), procedure not give any errors,
but disk FW not changed.
CAM version < 6.6 show alarm when see disk with fw more fresh then Baseline.
More fresh version of CAM not triggered alarm in this case.
Thank you very much for your help and prompt reply.
Now I don't downgrade FW yet. I want give more info on this problem as below:
I have storage (A) and storage (B)
- Storage (A): has one faulty hard disk and all hard disk has firmware low version
- Storage (B): all hard disk has firmware high version
I try many time to take one hard disk from storage(B) to replace a faulty hard disk on Storage (A), after replacement I see the status on hard disk is blue but not recognize and checking status in CAM is still fail, I don't know why?
Please kindly give any idea on this.
Thanks and regards,
Array firmware downgrade is neither qualified nor supported by Oracle, this is why such procedure cannot be delivered publicly.
Beside that, the 6140 must contain two controllers, it is not supported to have only one controller in a 6140. If you correct this configuration and if you still need assistance due to a bug that requires you to downgrade the firmware, please open a Service Request with the Oracle support and we will evaluate the situation.
Please be informed that we have the "Storage Disk 2000, 3000, 6000 RAID Arrays & JBODs Community (https://communities.oracle.com/portal/server.pt/community/storage_disk_2000%2C_3000%2C_6000_raid_arrays___jbods/465) where you can post technical questions.
I will make more clear about this and what I have done for this problem.
- (A) Storage has a hard disk faulty has controller firmware version as below (2 controllers)
- (B) Storage that need to take a hard disk to replace a faulty hard disk above and has only 1 controller
I have tried to erase the DACstore on the drive and than replace with a faulty hard disk but not fix this problem, so I suspect on controller firmware and I want to downgrade controller firmware of storage B to compatible with controller firmware on Controller A.
Please kindly give advice or other solution for this.
Thanks and regards,

You have problem with different version of DACstore.
Same problems: Re: 6140 + CSM200 - Doesn't recognize drives
You can google how reset DacStore.
For me , more easy install required disk to any FC-jbod and clear first and last 10 cyl.
Thank you very much for your advice.
Your idea "For me , more easy install required disk to any FC-jbod and clear first and last 10 cyl." Could you explain me more about your idea?
I used to reset DacStore already but cannot fix the problem.
Please help to advice me for this.
Install disk at FC-JBOD. ( FC-box without raid controller) Select format, set type auto, label, exit.
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rdsk/<requiured_disk>s2 skip=<size_of_disk_at MB - 1024> bs=1024k
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rdsk/<requiured_disk>s2 bs=1024k count=1024
format and label this disk again.
Try install this disk to required array.
After sysWype Dacstore will be writen again so if you do it on 7.x FW, this disk will not work on 6.x FW.
Also you can try use
