I am using Oracle 11g running on Windows Server 2003 along with SQL Developer 3.1.
My objective is to import several text data files (containing nearly 600k rows) exported from MS SQL Server into Oracle database. The data contains a few fields in formats RAW and Timestamp other than usual Number and Char fields and it is delimited by tab. The same data that I am trying to import is also available on the same system in MS SQL Server also, which I have live connection to.
There are 2-3 things that I am trying to achieve this. Using SQL Dev for both methods.
1) Use live connection to SQL 2k5 and right click on table name and select "Copy to Oracle" and provide destination Oracle connection where data needs to be copied. This procedure works smoothly but is taking too much time to complete while if I give destination connection on another PC over the network, this works relatively faster. (30 mins on local PC against 5 min on remote PC to complete 1 copy).
Is there a way I can get similar to 5 mins or lesser time while running on same PC?
2) I am trying to import from text files (by renaming them as CSV) of same data residing locally using ' right click table and select Import and then select various options like Direct Insert or SQL Loader ' to Import but it fails due to Timestamp date format.
Can I get around this problem and have it running smooth and fast? Either of the above two or any other alternative method would be greatly helpful.
Thanks in Advance
