Use the CONFIGURE CHANNEL command to configure options for disk or SBT channels1 person found this helpful
CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARMS 'ENV=??';
Note: the PARM need to be for your device.
Why do you think "keep until time" is not working? Good correct
KEEP UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE+365'
Thanks for the prompt,
I can setup the parameter as:
RMAN> CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARMS 'ENV=(TDPO_OPTFILE=/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo.opt)';
using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
new RMAN configuration parameters:
CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARMS 'ENV=(TDPO_OPTFILE=/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo.opt)';
new RMAN configuration parameters are successfully stored
Yes, we have KEEP UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE+168' and changed to KEEP UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE+90'
So, my understanding RMAN will keep the backup and log for 5,5 month and changed to 3 month.
How can I delete the old backup that already kept for previous 2,5 month ?
If I understand the question correctly then from RMAN :
Change "N" to the number of days back you want to delete. Make sure "N" is the correct number you want. ( SYSDATE-90 )
DELETE noprompt BACKUP COMPLETED BEFORE 'SYSDATE-N' DEVICE TYPE SBT;
DELETE EXPIRED BACKUP; DELETE FORCE NOPROMPT BACKUP COMPLETED BEFORE 'SYSDATE-N';

I have executed as your advised below, but somehow it doesnt get the files.
Is there any way to check what is the oldest backup that available ?
RMAN> DELETE noprompt BACKUP COMPLETED BEFORE 'SYSDATE-90'; allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1 channel ORA_DISK_1: SID=100 device type=DISK allocated channel: ORA_SBT_TAPE_1 channel ORA_SBT_TAPE_1: SID=138 device type=SBT_TAPE channel ORA_SBT_TAPE_1: Data Protection for Oracle: version 18.104.22.168 specification does not match any backup in the repository
RMAN> DELETE EXPIRED BACKUP; using channel ORA_DISK_1 using channel ORA_SBT_TAPE_1 specification does not match any backup in the repository
RMAN> DELETE FORCE NOPROMPT BACKUP COMPLETED BEFORE 'SYSDATE-90'; using channel ORA_DISK_1 using channel ORA_SBT_TAPE_1 specification does not match any backup in the repository
The catalog view rc_backup_piece_details should show the oldest time ( completion_time )
RMAN > report obsolete;
RMAN > list backup summary;
This has been sorted out.
