Yeah, probably the least technical question ever posted on this forum. I'm trying to play an old WildTangent game called Dark Orbit. My laptop runs Windows 7. I found the game on download.com (lucky break), but it refuses to run. After searching around for a while, I found a thread on the WildTangent forums about this game and the errors people are having; one post said "The error is mostly because of the old version of the WT Game Channel... and the game won't run because of the lack of JavaVM on Windows 7." Anyone have any ideas?
Here's a link to the thread, if anyone is curious. http://forum.wildgames.com/topic/15101-original-dark-orbit/
So go to java.com and install Java. This is the Java developer forum.
What the thread may be referring to is the old Microsoft Java Virtual Machine however which was once part of Internet Explorer. If the game needs that, you're very likely not going to be able to play it on Windows 7 as Microsoft does not support it anymore.
I'll bet that's what they're referring to. Thanks! Hmm...maybe downloading and using an older version of IE to run it would work...as long as I could prevent it from overwriting my current version...I'll have to look into that.
