I raised SR with Oracle for some clarifications and they are informing me that I MUST use DBUA to upgrade an Oracle EBS Database to 11gR2 and Manual Upgrade method is NOT supported . I preferred Manual Upgrade method as it gives more control and we would know what is happening during the database upgrade.Ask Oracle Support for their reference about not support the manual upgrade.
Please let me know if I can use Manual Upgrade method for Oracle EBS database upgrade. It is supported, you can either use DBUA or the manual upgrade method.
Will I get support from Oracle if I run into any issues in the future after going Live?
*"You need to use dbua as you are clearly instructed to do . For EBS it is not an option , it is mandatory .*I am still not convinced by their response as there is no single document (that I am aware of) states clearly that DBUA should be used instead of manual upgrade. I used manual upgrade many times before for Oracle EBS database with no issues, and I even believe many of us here in the forum used it before.
*As I said you are following the wrong documentation .*
*The database upgrade process is supported by RDBMS support team , they can tell you what is the difference between dbua and the manual upgrade method .*Could you please update the SR and ask them for the reason why manual upgrade is not supported?
*If you want to find out From EBS ATG point if view you are following the wrong upgrade path....."*If this is documented somewhere, it would be great if Oracle support could share it with us.
