    Linux installation

      hi, All

There is a Sun Fire X4170 server in our company, the server has been installed 'Open Solaris" and other applications. The person who had installed it is not longer in our company.

Now, my boss asked me to re-install the server in Oracle Linux 6.3. As I am quite new for installation, Could experts here give me some hints and guidence on how to do that. or could give me some URL link for online document. We are going to use it as company web applications server.

like (1) 'Raid' and Raid level, and how to do that, in what software ?
      (2) how to remove or replace the exsting OpenSolaris in Oracle Linux?

      Thanks a lot!!!

there are four files to be downloaded:

            1. Oracle Linux Release 6 Update 3 for x86_64 (64 Bit) V33411-01 3.5G
            2. Oracle Linux Release 6 Update 3 Boot iso image for x86_64 (64 bit) V33412-01 198M

            3. Oracle Linux Release 6 Update 3 source DVD 1 V33413-01 3.1G
            4. Oracle Linux Release 6 Update 3 source DVD 2 V33414-01 1.7G

I know for installation purpose I do not need to download item 3 and item4. who can tell me what's different between item 1 and item 2? what is Boot iso image? it 's function?

If I want to make a set of installation DVD, what I need to do?

You only need 1. Oracle Linux Release 6 Update 3 for x86_64 (64 Bit) V33411-01 3.5G. The boot ISO is a very small bootable installer than requires a full network-accessible package repository already configured.
