We Currently have a f5 BigIP load balancer in place ( which we do not have visibility of).
We have 2 application tiers running all application services and load balancer in place.
websvr1, websvr2 and load balancer LB01
What dns entry do we use. Currently we are using dns which resolves to both websvr1 and websvr2 ip address and ports which I think may be wrong? eg
when i do an nslookup on the url used to access the application (dns entry) it resolves to ip address of websvr1 and websvr2 in round robin.
My question is should this dns entry be resolving to the virtual Server of the Load balancer ?
Thanks in advance
What is application server running on which OS (like HP-Unix or IBM-AIX ro ?????)
You try following:
Create a normal virtual server type Standard (or PErformance Layer4, if 3400 your BIG-IP has L4 ASIC) with UDP as protocol (or All protocol since some DNS requests may use TCP), and map it to your pool of DNS servers. No special DNS "profile".
Think I have sorted this... I am having the network team resolve url for application to the virtual server for load balancer. As at the minute I think it is simply using Round robin dns balancing and not even touching the load balancer.
