P identify exact OS and database versions. Is this patch an OS patch or a database patch ? Pl post the patch number. Grid Control Change Management Pack is one option. You could also possibly write scripts to do this
Thanks Sriri much.
I have rhel 5 and db version 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168 .
I am talking about Oracle critical patch update (January 2012) [ http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/cpujan2012-366304.html ].
I need to install them on about 100 databases. Can this be done using Grid Control Change Management Pack? Is script is the other option, what are the processes of the script any idea?
I am pretty sure Grid CMP can achieve this, as it is designed to apply patches. As far as the script is concerned, you will have to write one to do the following -
1. log on to the server
2. shut down the database
3. apply the patch silently
4. start up the database and run any sql scripts
You will also have to code error handling. You will have to put this in some kind of loop to do this for all the servers / databases.
Thanks Srini. this helps a lot.
thanks all for your valuable comments.
