I have a problem with publishing an application in Visual Studio. I have installed ODAC (184.108.40.206.0). When I enable "Create setup program to install prerequisite components" in Publish tab the publishing is ending with error :
1) Cannot publish because a project failed to build.
2) An error occurred generating a bootstrapper: Unable to begin updating resource for bin\Debug\app.publish\setup.exe with error 80070002
I'm using ADO.NET Entity Data Model.
Is there a way to let the prerequisite control turned on without getting error ?
I am running across the same error as well. Tried changing the cpu type from x86 to ANY CPU. that did not help. moved the project from a solution of 8 projects, to a solution of its own. that did not help either. The error that I get is:
c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets(3939,9): error MSB3169: An error occurred generating a bootstrapper: Unable to begin updating resource for bin\Debug\app.publish\setup.exe with error 80070002
Same error. I use click-once setup, target .NET 4 framework, and used Entity Framework 4 in VS 2010. After install ODAC 11.2 Release 4 (220.127.116.11.0) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio, it gives this error, even with the previous working projects.
Is there any solution? Please help!

I don't have much expertise in the VS Publish functionality. Googling it points to some possible reasons for the error. Assuming that Publish works without including ODP.NET in the project, try cleaning out your Bin and Obj folders. If that doesn't work, you may want to try some of the other suggestions, such as clearing out your %TEMP% folder.
If no one else on the discussion forum can provide a working solution, open a service request with Oracle if this problem reproduces only when ODP.NET is included.
