Which Sun/Oracle Studio Compiler is supported for Oracle 11R2 and Pro*C?

      Hi Forum!

We're planning to setup a new Solaris build server for our C++ application, which currently links against the Oracle client library and is compiled with "Sun Studio 12".
We noticed that the newest compiler is now "Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3" and wonder if we should install this instead of the rather old "Sun Studio 12".

I think we should stay with the old compiler though, since the documentation for DB still claims the following: (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24349/toc.htm#CHDHCAGI)
           4.3 Compiler Requirements
Oracle Solaris Studio 12 (C and C++ 5.9) is supported with Pro*C/C++, Oracle Call Interface,
Oracle C++ Call Interface, and Oracle XML Developer's Kit (XDK) for Oracle Database 11g Release 2.
Strictly speaking, "Oracle Solaris Studio 12" does not exist. What does exist, is:
      Name                    Mininum OS     Compiler     Released
      ----                    ----------     --------     --------
      Sun Studio 12               S10U1          5.9          June 2007
      Sun Studio 12 Update 1          S10U1          5.10          June 2009
      Oracle Solaris Studio 12.2     S10U1          5.11          Sept 2010
      Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3     S10U6          5.12          Dec  2011
And the old installation doc definitely claimed that "Sun Solaris 12" is required for Oracle DB This is why we installed it back then. :)

      My questions are:
      * is there an official statement about the newest Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3 edition and Oracle DB ?
      * are the compiler requirements for Oracle DB different?

      Thanks for your input! :)

      Kinds regards
