In Word, if I create a rule table, how do I put the "Section Number" in there?
I tried to put the number and inserted a "tab" character in the conclusion, but the number and tab was ignored...
The rule table models a section of legislation.
You can have structural elements in the condition cells (right-hand cells after the top conclusion row) in Word rule tables. Use Ctrl+Tab instead of just Tab.
Depending on your MSWord formatting settings, Word may annoyingly try to "help" and convert your structural element numbers into an MSWord numbered list. If this happens then the numbers will be ignored upon compile, which sounds like what you're seeing. Right-click on the structural element and change 'Numbering' to 'None' -- that worked in my test rule table.
