How to create raw partition for oracle 11g ASM

Dear all ,

This my first asm installation I want know what is right procedure to create raw partition .

OS=Oracle linux 5.8
Database = 11.2

Before I am creating partion using LVM with format type none.when i try to add in ASM using asmtool but it dosent work.
kindly guide in this matter.

    Do NOT use a LVM for creating ASM devices. They should be RAW devices, the partition should be the ENTIRE disk minus the first 1M (start at cylinder 2). Also do NOT use ASMLib - it is being retired and will not be available for future versions of Linux. Get a copy of "Automatic Storage Management - Under-the-Hood - a Practical Deployment Guide. It does reference ASMLib - but it is not necessary.
