You will get support regardless of the hardware, it just may take a bit longer in certain circumstances, if it's a hardware/driver related issue. We also have Oracle Linux Hardware Certifications which likewise are not mandatory, it just means that we've fully tested that hardware combination.
As long as I have, say Linux x86_64 on, say, OEL 6.3, on which my Oracle 126.96.36.199 database is "certified", I am good... irrespective of hardware being in the validated configuration or not.
Perhaps one should mention that Oracle Linux is designed for server hardware, which use a typical set of hardware configurations. Your mileage will vary and support will certainly be questionable in case you try to install and support Enterprise Linux on a mobile or desktop computer, in particular with any cutting edge technology.1 person found this helpful
