I have concerned about the db tier base directory, I don't want the new home of Oracle would be created since we are already on 11gr2, I think I confusing with $ORACLE_BASE with the base directory.

If you lay down Rapid Install on the application tier node, it will not install any database ORACLE_HOME for you.

In case you run Rapid Install on the database tier node first (which is not required in your case) then please see (How to upgrade Oracle E-Business Suite from 11i to 12.1.1 and keep the existing 10g Database? [ID 1345020.1]).

    Hi Hussein ,

I have moved to the next steps but with some issues.
I am upgrading to r12 from 11.5.10.2 on Oracle Linux 5. I am already on 11gr2.

I am able to install r12 software, I am able to see the last screen "The instance passed all of the post-install tests, and right check on "Upgrade file" . After clicking Next, and clicking "Connect to Oracle Applications Release 12.1.1" , I get the following error "RW-50028:Unable to launch a browser as no references were found in the PATH" .

Please see the following error from apps_st log :

Attempting upload of Context file and templates to database...ERROR: InDbCtxFile.uploadCtx() : Exception : Error executng BEGIN fnd_gsm_util.upload_context_file(:1,:2,:3,:4,:5); END;: 1; The element reports_port is missing from the context file /u01/oracle/inst/apps/TEST_epiktest/appl/admin/TEST_epiktest.xml. The context file upload will not continue.
    FAILED

1)- I suspect that at the time of installation, I could not verify all the default port on the installer screen, I think that might me be the issue, if it is then how to fix it.
2)-I am able to log in to the database from apps tier.
3)- After disabling the maintenance mode, I am able to login and use the old 11i environment screens.

One thing is importance, I have just installed, did not touch anything for CUP patches, configuration etc.Should I wait to complete other tasks and then try to log in.

    Please help.

    Thanks

Was the context file created "/u01/oracle/inst/apps/TEST_epiktest/appl/admin/TEST_epiktest.xml"? If yes, please review it and make sure the values are correct and run AutoConfig then.

You cannot login to R12 as this time, you have to wait until you apply CUP patches, run main upgrade patch, run Rapid Install again then you can start the services and access R12 application.

    Thanks,

    Hi Hussein,

Is there any way that I can send you my logs for autoconfig and rapidwiz log files.

    Thanks

    Hi Hussein,

The below issue I already put for another discussion but I think was not the right forum to put. I have applied patch 7303029
because I found the patch in so many Oracle r12 upgrade documents, but I think I should have applied 7303030 NOT 7303029
    Please help.

Please see below problem related to admsi.pl CUP patrches after installation of r12 software:

    Patch 7303029: Oracle E-Business Suite Consolidated Upgrade Patch 1 (CUP1) for R12.1.1
    Patch 7303030: Patch 12.1.1: 12.1.1 Maintenance Pack

So, if you want to apply CUP1 you need to apply the first patch.

You can simply run "adpatch preinstall=y" and ignore the "admsi.pl" section in the patch README file.

    Thanks,
    Hussein

    Hi Hussein,

Thanks for your reply. Tomorrow, I will apply the patch by using adpatch preinstall=y" instead of "admsi.pl".
Hopefully, I will not get the following error:
PLS-00201: identifier 'AD_MANUAL_STEP_OBJECT.IS_ON_BASELINE' must be declared.

    I will let you know.

Thank you Hussein, it worked. My upgrade to r12 would be so difficult if help on this site is not available.

    Now please answer the following:

Any documentation for the CUP financial patches, from one Oracle site I found the list of CUP patches available from the patch "EBS_R12.1_Preinstall_2012_Sep_20.zip". Is this complete list of pre-install patches ?
2)- Do I need to apply 7303030, would this also be applied in pre-install mode ?

    Regards

No, this is required only when you upgrade from 12.0.x to 12.1.x

Do you know about EBS_R12.1_Preinstall_2012_Sep_20.zip, I think that this is most latest documentation/list of patches regarding CUP patches, just released on Sep20, 2012 ?

    Hi Hussein,

One more question please, in one documentation, I found that just copy the *.drv files under $APPL_TOP/admin/$TWO_TASK/preinstall and then merged it with the u6678700.drv under $AU_TOP/patch/115/driver

That may be right for the driver files already placed under $APPL_TOP/admin/$TWO_TASK/preinstall BUT how come other pre-install patches drivers would be placed and merged with others drivers, I think those patches should fail asking for the files like *.pls , *.ldt etc which are not copied under the pre-install directory.

    Please clarify .

    Thanks
