Figured it out, I needed to find the fully qualified name in my case it was in the following format: server.domain/instance
Still not sure how TOAD resolves it with just the instance name.
Just curious but was this a standalone database or a cluster? We have a cluster and unless I specify a specific node I cannot get it to work. Obviously this is not desired as we lose load balancing; so I was wondering if you could share a little more insight about your success and what you had to do.
I too have the same problem, unable to connect using LDAP, when connecting through Visual Studio ODP.NET.
I provided the following details in the ODP.NET Connection properties popup
datasource = server.domain\instance
user name = user name
password = password
using the same I am able to connect to Oracle from SQL Navigator, but with Visual studio its showing the same below error :
ORA-12154: TNS: Could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
