R12 on ASM (Virtualized)
Oct 2, 2012 6:07 AM
I'll go to install EBS R12 on a virtualized server using vmware.
I wondered whether it was a good practice to use ASM for this type of environment.
I think that R12 with ASM is a good practice, but I don't now if with vmware worth adding ASM layer. It is a new layer that may be faulty and I haven't clear that performance will improve.
Any similar experience? Recommendations?

Review what license say about using Vmware, for plain DB, you should license all the CPU that are in the physical host.
Plus, Oracle will work on a best effort attitude with the SRs, and you may be asked to reproduce the issues outside vmware.
Why not OracleVM ? you can have direct physical devices for ASM.
