    Users can not connect to the DB

    user12048358
      Hi Experts;

      After a maintenance to a server, to change the root password, users are having problems to connect to the DB.
      I start up de DB, and I can connect with sysdba, but not with any other user.

      This DB is running in OS AIX 5.3, the DB version is 10.2

      I verified the listener, and it's up.

            tell me how to make my car go.

            I give up.

            what specifically are the users actually doing & how does oracle really respond?

            is COPY & PASTE broken for you?

                      now try to register your database with listener using
                      ALter system register ;
                      I dont know where you get the listener status that you post before

                        From your lsnrctl status output:

                        (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=TSTIPTVDB)(PORT=1521)))

                        From your tnsnames.ora file:

                        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 170.20.221.64)(PORT = 51584))

                        And does TSTIPTVDB = 170.20.221.64?

                          Hi Osama;

                          the first results posted, I get them after started the listener, however, after that I restarted the server and know the results are other, I don't have idea.

                          Now, with this ooption ;

                          ALter system register ; I understand the command should be; alter system set local_listener=''; but how can I know the listener name, because I start the listener in this way: lsnrctl start

                          Thank you very much for your help.

                              Is your database running with other than default LISTENER earlier.
                              Default listener----runs on port 1521 and with name LISTENER. And all PMON's gets automatically registered with default LISTENER if it is up and running.
                              cd $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
                              cat listener.ora-----check for non default listeners if any
