I'm attempting to access an Oracle database on a remote server using either MS Access or Showcase and Microsoft ODBC for Oracle. I get the following error message:
The Oracle(tm) client and networking components were not found. These components are supplies by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle version 7.3 (or greater) client software installation.
You will be unable to use this driver until these components have been installed.
I tried installing instant client-basiclite, but got the same error message.
I then installed Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) for Windows, and still got the same error message.
In some of the instructions, there's a note about setting the library loading path in your environment and there's another reference to desktop properties, but I'm not seeing how to check or modify the Windows PATH. What do I need to do to make this work?
I would suggest you download and install a regular Oracle client on your PC including the Oracle version of ODBC driver. Don't use Microsoft version of Oracle ODBC driver which tend to have problems.
Once you installed Oracle client and ODBC driver. You can configure a TNS name point to your DB server.
