John Flack Blog seems to be based some usecase he may tired out. AS Far AS I Know,
good practice it woud be in MBean :
use datacontrol iterator get the viewobject values.
DCIteratorBindings dciter = (DCIteratorBindings)bindings.get("getyouriterator")dont use:
dciter.getviewobject.getAttribute("your attibute name"). //dont hit model layer straightly.
there is no need to access your application module in your managed bean. better create a bean make scope a session store and access value over the application. no need to bind the attribute/object all your pages/fragments
