    928943
      I am installing Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsft Windows Vista (32-Bit) and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit) in my box which has OS Widnows 7 Enterprise,32 bit operating system.It is not passing one of the prerequisite as belows.
      Checking operating system requirements ...

      Expected result: One of 5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0
      Actual Result: 6.1
      What above failure is it? Whats it is checking and what it is not getting?

          10.2.0.3 is not certified on Windows 7. It's throwing an error because the version of Windows (Microsoft reports that Windows 7 is version 6.1) doesn't match the versions of Windows that it expects. I believe 10.2.0.4 was the first version of Oracle that was certified on Windows 7.

          You should be able to bypass the prerequisites check (I'm assuming this is the only failure) by using the -ignoreSysPrereqs flag when you invoke the installer from the command line.

            The error occurred because your OS Windows Server 2008 is supported only for oracle database 10.2.0.4 or later and also Windows 7 is supported for database 10.2.0.5 or later. Since you are installing 10.2.0.3 on this OS, operating system requirements was failed.

            There are 2 methods to overcome this :

            1. As Justin recommended run setup.exe from command prompt with -ignoreSysPrereqs flag.

            2. Illegal way/Non recommended one :

            add below lines on end of the file refhost.xml

            *<!--Microsoft Windows 7-->*
            *<OPERATING_SYSTEM>*
            *<VERSION VALUE="6.1"/>*
            *</OPERATING_SYSTEM>*
            *</CERTIFIED_SYSTEMS>*

            Better use 1st method.

              Pl follow the documented install process

              http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b14264/toc.htm#CIHCFAGA - pay special attention to Step 4 (which is required)

              Is there a reason you are installing a de-supported version of software, as opposed to 11gR2 ?

                What do you mean by desupported , we have the license of this version.You mean to say that if we have any issue ,Oracle Co will not give us support for this version?

                    Hi;

                    1. 10.2.0.3 not certified wiht Win7. If you want to install oracle 10gR2 to win7(you cant make installation on home version,you can try but its your risk) For win7 installation follow below:

                    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b14264/toc.htm#CJAICEJA

                    part:4.3 Installing Oracle Software on Windows 7

                    2. I suggest please review:

                    Is Microsoft Windows 7 certified to install/run Oracle Database Server/Client ? [ID 952302.1]

                    3. 10g is not supported version, its mean If its not mandotary please go with 11gr2 version please see:
