one more question:
Is it possible to implement the http server on the Oracle VM Server with the "mini" Linux?
The setup of the OVM Manger was done on a second node.
FYI you can deploy the OVM Manager directly on a OVM 3 host e.g.
"OVM 3.0.3 import VirtualBox OVM Manager 3.0.3 OVA template",
Re: OVM 3.0.3 import VirtualBox OVM Manager 3.0.3 OVA template
The "VirtualBox Templates for Oracle VM 3.1" are here,
I highly recommend using VirtualBox.
yes thanks for the answer but it doesn't solve my problem.
I just want to create new virtual machines on an Oracle VM server by using ISO Images like OEL 6.3 and so on.
So doing this I need to setup an http or ftp Server. How could I do this and is it possible to create this http server on the Oracle VM Server?
Yes it is possible to create the FTP or HTTP Server on the VM Server (hopefully you are referring to hypervisor server).....
You need to install the rpm for vftp, then configure the it for anonymous access and run the service.....
Once done, you can use the ftp server as ftp://<server ip/name>/<path to the file>/<iso file name>
IMHO modifying the JeOS that is OVM is dubious and configuring a ftp/http server in Dom0 is bad form.
Configure a DomU VM to do these chores and leave Dom0 as is.
I setup an http Server. It works fine.
Yes setup of apache was done
Simple ad hoc HTTP server on OVM 3.2.3,
[root@ovm323 ISOs]# cat /etc/ovs-release
Oracle VM server release 3.2.3
[root@ovm323 ISOs]# python -V
[root@ovm323 ISOs]# pwd
[root@ovm323 ISOs]# python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8000
Serving HTTP on 0.0.0.0 port 8000 ...
localhost.localdomain - - [13/May/2013 10:51:39] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 -
[root@ovm323 ~]# curl http://localhost:8000
