Beehive Conf on MAc post Mac OS X 10.6 Update 11

After the update in which apple disabled the java plug in Beehive conferences will no longer run. It appears that the java web start application will not launch the jnlp. I have reinstalled Oracle Java and I am currently running Java 1.7.0_09. Anyone have any ideas how to turn java back on?

Unfortunately Beehive Conf. does not appear to work with the latest Java Update. Worked fine when you restored a previous version of java, which you can do from your backup or try to download the older version of java.

Is there a way to download a previous version (6?) for the Mac? The web site states that 6 is distributed by apple. This was true up until last week when they stopped java support.

              Hi,

I have found the same with my home mac and have not--- yet --- found a solution. However, you could try the Conferencing client downloadable from the https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/bcentral/action?page=downloads. Might be worth a try whilst a Java solution is investigated.

There seems to be a java download on the www.apple.com/downloads site:

Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 11
Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 11 delivers improved security, reliability, and compatibility by updating Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_37.

                Hi,

If you change to the downloadable client it all work fine - the client is on the downloads page on central and the choice of conferencing client is in the Conference link on the left hand menu of the central home page - change it to client and you should be good to go.

I originally switched to the Javafx version because the downloadable client does not work on the Mac. There is an authentication issue with mountain lion. Are you stating that you have been successful with the downloadable client on Mountain lion?

                    Bumping this....

I made the mistake of downloading the latest Java on Mac and also can't access Beehive web conferencing. I also tried downloading the client but it stated that the developer of Java isn't recognized and it won't let me install the software. Any idea on a fix for this? I tried looking for older versions of Java but had no luck.

Hi the version I have that works on the Mac is Oracle Beehive Conferencing 2.0.1.6.2011083111 (2011083111)
                      2.0.1.6.2011083111(2011083111)
                      BcpApi: 1.0.24.0
                      BeeComm: 1.0.5.60
                      BST: 2.0.1.6.2011083111 (2011083111)
                      DSCODEC: 2.0.1.600
                      DSEngine: 2.0.1.600
                      LibRgn: 2.0.1.145
                      OracleObjects: 2.0.1.6.2011083111 (2011083111)
                      OWCBase: 2.0.1.600
                      OWCClient: 2.0.1.600

Not tried the 2.0.1.7 from beehiveonline.oracle.com/bcentral as yet. Is that the one that i not working? If so I can get an older one - i.e. the 2.0.1.6 one, and put it up on the website for download.

                        I just tried 2.0.1.7.2012071100
When you try to create a new meeting you get "Connection to stbeehive.oracle.com failed Authentication using XXX@oracle.com failed"

I am certain my credentials and connection are fine.

Ok, let me check with my colleague in the morning - he has more experience of stbeehive and conferencing than I have and if there is a version issue we should have a fix as this is a failure that would have been reported. If you have an account on BeehiveOnline - a separate system - can you check you get the same problem?

I have not tested Beehive online. I have tested stbeehive.oracle.com as I am an internal employee.
                            So in summary
                            1. Switched from client to javafx when mountain line came out because of authentication issue...worked great
                            2. Installed Mac OSx10.6 update 11 on Mac which disabled java and forced install on Java 7. Beehive conf wont start and there is no way I know if to install java 6 on mac as it was apple controlled.
                            3. Cant go back to client version (see #1)

Any path to a working conf on the mac would be acceptable.

Please try the workaround listed here: http://myforums.oracle.com/jive3/ann.jspa?annID=4513

Basically option 2 worked for me. The only issue is that it seems that Safari wont autolaunch the jnlp. The solution requires to go to the download folder and double click. Not a big deal but if someone knows how to resolve the solution would be complete

Option 2 (Post Java 1.6.0_37 and above, upgrade):
                                1) Launch Automator.app
                                2) Create new Application
                                3) Drag "Run shell script"
                                4) Replace default script
                                /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Commands/javaws -J-d32 $1
                                5) On the top right corner choose "as arguments" for "Pass input:"
                                6) Save into /Applications
                                7) Associate jnlp extension with the .app you just created

Thanks for providing this info! Very helpful in getting me back up and running beehive conferences on my system again. Is there any ETA on when the app version with have the authentication problem fixed?

I have a new MacBook Pro running Mount Lion 10.8.2 with Java 1.6.0_37
I created the script in the suggestion. When I attempt to join a conference
from a browser, I get the Oracle Beehive Conferencing Menu at the top of
the screen but that's as far as it gets. It seems to hang forever.

How can I get Beehive Conferencing to Work?
