    Two Questions - About Playstation 2 + java and java x C++ nowadays

    Andre Lopes
      Hi.
      Ok, so im studying Java to make games, and i got a really nice book now.

      So , the book is a little old but, it came up with two things

      Java in PS2 ~~ PS3
      Is nowadays PS2/PS3 able to run Java or somehow like that ?

      and

      Java (versus) C++
      It showed that java can be faster than C++, but that was about that time. How is it now?
      Is now , java equally faster as C++ or it doesnt matter
      ?

      Thanks for your answers

          PS2 - no. PS3 has a bluray player on board and all bluray kit has embedded Java, but you wouldn't use Java to build a game.

          About performance metrics: The runtime is very good at optimizing, but it really depends on the code how successful it is. C++ will generally still produce better performing code, but the question is more if you'll notice that. There is more to gain by optimizing the environment - hardware, network performance, etc.
